Babylon's Peak The Wedge Pinotage

A great Pinotage from the highest and lowest-yielding site of Babylon's Peak. The vineyard lies behind and under the protection of the eponymous granite dome, the vines are bush-vine trained, meaning they grow low and close to the ground. From up here, you can often feel the cooling breeze from the Atlantic in the afternoons during the hot season. In ideal conditions and with a cold front, you can even look down on a layer of cloud. This terroir allows the grapes to ripen in the morning sun and protects the fruit flavours and acidity build-up during the night. The grapes ripen quite late. Matured for 12 months in French oak barriques. Babylons Peak THE WEDGE Pinotage is dark red in colour with aromas of prunes and mocha on the nose. The flavour is very strong and spicy with notes of dark fruit and smoked ham. Equipped with a rich tannin structure, it remains firm and long on the finish.
