At the Blue Heron we offer public themed tastings as well as cosy space in which to organise your own private wine-tastings. We host wine-tastings for team events, bacherlorette parties, birthday celebrations, even family get-togethers. When you want to do something fun with friends, family or colleagues, one of our wine-tastings can be a great idea. 

Tastings include 5 wines and a selection of snacks. Choose from our mid-range selection (45 euro pp) or premium selection (55 euro pp).

OUR TEAM

Our Team of Wine Experts

Our multi-culti team of staff will ensure not only that you find the right wine for the occasion or dish you need, but also host your private events making them fun and entertaining 

CYRIL : French and Greek, Cyril grew up in Strasbourg, spent his summers in Greece and then moved to South Africa after his studies. He is a WSET Diploma holder, trains the German team of blind tasters as a hobby and leads most of our Thursday night tastings 

FAYE : British-born, she spent over a decade in Italy where she fell in love with wine. She holds WSET 3 and the Italian Sommelier Association qualification. She hosts private tastings, the girls-only events and our beginner wine-tastings. 

ANTONIO : Portuguese, and from a wine-making family. You will often find him supporting our events and in the shop in the evening

MIA : South-African wine-loving daughter of Blue Heron founder Tanja, she loves presenting the wines of her home country during private themed tastings.

Frequently Asked Questions

What language are your tastings hosted in? 

We feel we can transmit our passion for wine better in English however we are a very multi-culti team and can also host tastings in German, French, Italian and Greek. 

How do I organise a tasting for a bacherlorette or birthday party? 

Simply contact us to check availability of the date and confirm how many people will attend. We need a minimum of 6 for a private booking. You're booking will be confirmed once we receive the deposit payment for 2 people. The rest can be paid on the day of the event. 

Do I get a discount on wines purchased at the event? 

At the end of our tasting events, you may purchase more wines to take home or get delivered. We offer a 10% discount on orders of 6 bottles or more. 

Can I buy Gift Vouchers for tasting events?  

Yes, on this link you can buy gift vouchers for our public events. Date night vouchers are also available which cover the price of 2 people to our public events 

What wines do your include in tastings?

For private events, we include 5 wines from our selection of South African, French, Italian, Greek, Austrian and German wines. We will work with you to see if you have any preferences and be sure to include them in the tasting

Do you offer a reduction for non-drinkers? 

No. If you have non-drinkers in the group, we will include an alcohol-free wine in the selection of 5 wines. Non-drinkers will of course be able to sniff and swirl and be part of the tasting without drinking. We do have a small choice of fruit juices available too. 

What's your cancellation policy?

For private tastings, cancellation within 10 days of the event will result in a loss of the deposit paid.
For public events, cancellation is possible up to 72hrs before the event. 

How do I redeem a voucher when booking an event? 

Take the code you received via email and enter it to the PROMOCODE box on our booking form. You can enter more than one code in each booking.
